However, a lot of people complain that intermittent fasting is not working for them. According to nutritionists, this may be happening because people don’t adhere to the rules/measures of intermittent fasting in a correct way.
Some basic measures
– Not eating efficient portions
This is a common mistake, where people do fasting for long intervals, but when they start eating, they consume food in large portions. Hence, they end up consuming a lot of calories, and the fasting gets nullified/wasted.
So, this won’t work when a person is trying to lose weight, and it will also damage his/her metabolism. For this, one needs to stick to small portion sizes whenever they eat.
– Consuming high-calorie food
Intermittent fasting doesn’t limit your food choices, but that doesn’t mean that you can eat whatever you want. You need to avoid high-calorie food in order to lose weight. Substitute these food items with healthier choices like salads, fruits, and high-protein foods.
– Physical Fitness
Intermittent fasting alone will not be sufficient for losing weight. Burning calories is as necessary as keeping a count on them/eating healthy. Make sure to exercise each day, especially cardiovascular exercises like walking/jogging/running, cycling, HIIT workout, or power yoga.
– Low-Calorie amount
Suddenly dropping the calories from your diet will give a shock to your body, and will cause hormonal imbalance. As a reaction to this, your body will start accumulating energy, and won’t burn much of it. You will start feeling weak or deprived of energy. So, you must go slow, and reduce the calorie intake gradually.
Always remember, that ‘losing weight quickly’ shouldn’t be your goal, instead sticking to a proper routine of diet, exercise, and sleep should be your highest priority. If you stay regimented with your routine, then your body will automatically start coming into proper shape day-by-day.
