Nowadays, alcohol consumption has became a very common practice. A majority of people consume alcohol, even after knowing the side effects. The same thing happens after intaking the covid vaccine too. Many questions had been raised regarding the consumption of alcohol after taking the covid vaccine. According to research based on Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the chances of reducing the effectiveness of the vaccine is not determined. “As per experts, there is no evidence of alcohol imparing the effectiveness of the vaccine” says the report.
But, regarding doctors advice, intaking alcohol should be controlled at least for a week after taking the covid jabs. Dr. Kirti Sabnis, infectious disease specialist, Fortis Hospital, Mulund said, “If you do end up consuming alcohol, moderation is important; everyday drinking remains unadvisable”
Moreover, excessive alcohol consumption may result in the increase of side effects such as pain, rashes or fever. It can also bring down once immunity. However, the doctor advised not to take alcohol in general. “Ideally, alcohol in all forms should be avoided in general. Especially, if done in a public setup, it makes people let their guard down which is not ideal in the current situation. There are no medical guidelines; alcohol is not contraindicated for this vaccination; however moderation is the key”
Hence, alcohol consumption is not advisable after getting vaccinated.
